Welcome to the Russian searchable database on the United Nations Convention for the International Sale of Goods (CISG), adopted at the United Nations Conference on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods, held in Vienna, 10 March - 11 April 1980.
The CISG is an international agreement set in place to facilitate international trade, promote common understandings, remove legal barriers, improve efficiencies, and reduce costs. The CISG is a unique body of law, unparalleled in world history. It is based upon carefully balanced compromise of the Roman-German and Anglo-American law systems approaches. Countries whose aggregate share of world trade exceeds two thirds, with the number of participating countries continuing to increase, have adopted this Convention (as of October 1, 1999, it is effective for 56 countries, while the total of 57 have acceded to it).
This database aims to disseminate in Russia and abroad the information on the CISG and specific features of its role and application in Russian law, as well as to promote the better understanding in Russia of the CISG and peculiarities of its application in other countries.
This database is part of the Internet autonomous network of CISG websites.
