Judicial organization in Hungary (overview)

The hierarchy of the courts has been changed recently in Hungary. Pursuant to the provisions of the new Code of Civil Procedure, the system is as follows:
- Courts of first instance
- Local Courts (Municipal Courts and District Courts of Budapest)
- County Courts (County Courts and the Metropolitan Court in Budapest)
- Courts of second instance
- In proceedings commenced at any of the local courts: County Courts
or its equivalent in Budapest, the Metropolitan Court
- In proceedings commenced at the County Courts or at the Metropolitan
Court: the Judicial Boards
- In proceedings commenced at the Judicial Boards, or if the proceedings
were commenced at any County Court and the parties have the right to
turn directly to the Supreme Court: the Supreme Court
- Revision
- In revision proceedings (being one of the highest means of redress):
the Supreme Court has jurisdiction
