In its 17th year, the Vis Moot is expected to draw to Vienna over 230 teams from approximately 60 jurisdictions, to arbitrate a dispute arising from an irrigation project. As usual, the contract of sale is subject to the CISG. This year students will focus on issues of non-conformity, breach, mitigation and force majeure. The dispute has been submitted to arbitration under the rules of the Australian Centre for International Commercial Arbitration. Students will focus on whether the pre-condition to arbitration, i.e., conciliation in accordance with the UNCITRAL Conciliation Rules, has been satisfied.
