You may search using any terms you wish, using simple Boolean searching (i.e.: AND and OR or you may also use proximity operators: eg.: statute w/3 frauds or quality w/10 inspection
Please note: Searching by phrases is not possible at this time. If, for example, you enter: battle of the forms , the search software will interpret this as battle or of or the or forms. That is to say, the database will return to you all records containing the word battle, plus all records containing the word of, plus all records containing the word the, plus all records containing the word forms. Not a very useful result!
Truncation (i.e.: stemming) is accomplished by means of a single asterisk [*]. Fields allowing a choice between "soundex" and "plain" allow you to choose whether the material retrieved will match your words exactly (plain) or approximately (soundex). For instance, a soundex search for Smith will retrieve Smyth also and may be useful when you are not entirely sure of the spelling of a word or name.
